In order to maintain a high level of safety and productivity in your lifting operations, it is necessary to keep your crane crews up to date with the most current regulatory and consensus safety standards in the industry.  In 2004 ASME added signalperson requirements to their B30.5 volume.  Simply stated the B30.5 - 2007 volume requires the person signaling a crane to have the following qualifications:

  1. Understand and utilize the standard hand signals provided by ASME.
  2. Understand the required elements of voice signals.
  3. A signalperson must have a basic understanding of crane operations and the limitations associated with the crane they will signal.

ASME also requires the all signal persons shall be tested by a designated person and demonstrate their qualifications.

The proposed revisions to the OSHA 1926.1400 - Crane and Derricks will also include these testing requirements.

The NCCCO Signalperson Certification program makes it easy for employers to verify the training and knowledge of a potential signalperson and meet the ASME and soon coming OSHA requirements.

The ETS "Signalperson Training Course" is an excellent way to prepare your employees to successfully complete the NCCCO Signalperson Certification program. With its state of the art animations and clear and concise demonstrations of the ASME standard hand signals, your employees with receive the information necessary to become a safe and productive signalperson.
